In this children's book we follow the saga of Copper the cat as she slowly warms up to her new owner after being adopted from an animal shelter where she lived in a cage for three years.
At first, Copper is extremely shy and hides under the owner's bed for nearly a month, taking all her food and water there. But eventually she emerges from her shell and and starts to walk around the apartment. The process is slow, and she's still scared in the beginning, but as time passes Copper and her owner become closer and closer.
The book culminates with a glorious scene of mutual love between cat and owner, and closes with the owner's reflections on how life with his new cat has made his world a better place.
