However, they grow almost anywhere and are particularly difficult to cull or eradicate and so ‘dandelions’ are often used also to describe children who manage to rise above their early hardship and survive - or do they? Eleven year old Luke has been orphaned and tries to escape the custody of a vengeful and cruel stepfather. Just when he thinks he's escaped to a new life he finds himself and his best friend Ben in a perilous state being made to work for a gang of criminals. He knows that once they help with the robbery his and Ben's life will be over. Will they survive? Will he be reunited with his only other real friend - his big black dog called Lucy?
