    The story was first published in Womans' Day under the title "The Old Stag and the Tree". This is the first book edition. Wonderful full color illustrations each facing a page of text. The text pages have wildflower drawings which are identified at the end of the book. The old stag contributes his health and longevity to eating parsley. He wants all his children and friends to eat it too so they would be happy and healthy. That is how he got the name of "Parsley". The story is about Parsley and an old crooked tree that had escaped the loggers. The book has the previous owner's name and date Christmas 1955 written in pencil on the free front endpaper. The dust jacket is lightly shelf worn with two pairs of tiny tears at the upper edge of both the front and rear panels as if something had laid against the book, tiny worn spot near the spine about 2" up from the bottom edge on the front panel. v , 46+ 1 pages. cloth-covered boards, dust jacket.
