Ten Friendly Frogs
Sally Crabtree, Sally Hobson
Board book
(B.E.S. Publishing, Aug. 1, 2008)
"Ten friendly frogs/ Sitting in a line,/ One leaped off his lilypad/ And that left . . ." nine! This charming board book for toddlers is filled with pictures of flowers and frogs, mice and mushrooms, birds, bees, ducks and deer--and they're here to teach boys and girls to count. Ten little plastic 3D frogs attached to the illustrations fit snugly into die-cut openings in the book's pages. When each page is turned, one of the frogs disappears to meet a new friend. Finally, only one little frog remains, waiting for the others to come back again. The book features a big plastic button for kids to press. It activates a sound chip that gives off a friendly frog's croak.
