The Fair
Ray McCune
Paperback
(America Star Books, April 1, 2015)
The author was raised in a small town in West Virginia where one of the main events of the year is the fall county fair. Besides the tents where the 4-H showed the animals they raised, displayed canned goods they put up, sewing projects they completed, hobbies they have, and prize fruits and vegetables they'd raised, there were mechanical rides, pony rides, and games of chance like balloon breaking, floating ducks with winning numbers on the bottom, bingo, raffles, a shooting gallery, and sweetheart picnic basket auctions to benefit local churches. It was the memory of attending the fairs with his cousin when they were around ten years old, that the author got the idea to tell his story in poetic form. Read and reminisce about your own youthful experiences with fairs that you've known. Most of all enjoy. Ray McCune is a proud grandfather and enjoys telling stories. Most of his stories take place in the 40's and 50's, an era that he grew up in and knows and remembers quite well. Ray lives in Fort Wayne, Indiana with his lovely wife Joanne; they have five children and eight grandchildren.
