    Grace Livingston Hill

Paperback (Ulan Press, Aug. 31, 2012)
This book was originally published prior to 1923, and represents a reproduction of an important historical work, maintaining the same format as the original work. While some publishers have opted to apply OCR (optical character recognition) technology to the process, we believe this leads to sub-optimal results (frequent typographical errors, strange characters and confusing formatting) and does not adequately preserve the historical character of the original artifact. We believe this work is culturally important in its original archival form. While we strive to adequately clean and digitally enhance the original work, there are occasionally instances where imperfections such as blurred or missing pages, poor pictures or errant marks may have been introduced due to either the quality of the original work or the scanning process itself. Despite these occasional imperfections, we have brought it back into print as part of our ongoing global book preservation commitment, providing customers with access to the best possible historical reprints. We appreciate your understanding of these occasional imperfections, and sincerely hope you enjoy seeing the book in a format as close as possible to that intended by the original publisher.
  • In Search

    Marko Brekalo

    eBook (, June 13, 2020)
A word by the author A man is in search of something his whole life. He searches for meaning, truth and answers; searches challenges, love and beauty. This is my contribution to the search. In my poems I wanted to describe what I found in myself and what others like me found in themselves. I believe I will give the pleasure of reading this relatively small, but to me meaningful bundle of my own thoughts, to the like-minded people. I look forward to it. Certain readers will conclude that I am a hedonist because of some of my poems. Part of it is true, because I am just an ordinary human being, inheritor of the original sin just like everybody else, whether they like to admit it or not. I must also admit that I am an addict to aesthetics. This is where I voice it. Imperfection is my tool. The limits are genes, environment, education and self-censorship. The result lays before you in a form of fifty poems and one short story. This poetry collection is a deviation from my so far written and published poetry. I do not lecture others like I used to. I am neither a judge nor an interpreter. Granted, I am no plowman that kills weeds. I am a merchant offering his verses in a never-ending marketplace of the written. I do not expect anything in return but for you to dedicate your time to reading this poetry collection. The author Osijek, 1st March 2016

    MP3 CD (Brilliance Audio MP3 CD, Aug. 1, 2012)
To most people, Fiona Bristow seems to have an idyllic life — a quaint house on an island off Seattle's coast, a thriving dog-training school, and a challenging volunteer job performing canine search and rescue. Not to mention her three intensely loyal Labs. But Fiona got to this point by surviving a nightmare. Several years ago, she was the only survivor of a serial killer — a madman who stalked and abducted young women, strangled them, and left them buried with a red scarf on their bodies. As authorities were closing in on the Red Scarf Killer, he shot and killed Fiona's cop fiancé and his K-9 partner. On Orcas Island, Fiona has found the peace and solitude she needed to rebuild her life. Yet all that changes on the day Simon Doyle barrels up her drive, desperate for her help. He's the reluctant owner of an out-of-control puppy, foisted upon him by his mother. Jaws has eaten through Simon's house, and he's at his wits' end. To Fiona, Jaws is nothing she can't handle. Simon is another matter. A newcomer to Orcas, he's a rugged and intensely private artist, known for creating exquisite furniture. Simon never wanted a puppy, and he most definitely doesn't want a woman. Besides, the lanky redhead is not his type. But tell that to the laws of attraction. As Fiona embarks on training Jaws and as Simon begins to appreciate both dog and trainer, the past tears back into Fiona's life. A copycat killer has emerged out of the shadows, a man whose bloodlust has been channeled by a master with one motive: to reclaim the woman who slipped out of his hands...
