This beautiful and remarkable little wonder of a book includes “The Happy Prince,” “The Nightingale and the Rose,” “The Selfish Giant,” “The Devoted Friend,” and “The Remarkable Rocket.” Wilde is a man remembered for plays like “The Importance of Being Ernest,” works like De Profundis and the scandal that attended it, and of course The Picture of Dorian Gray – but in many respects, this book (and a couple others like it) are Wilde’s real treasures. Highly recommended.

The Happy Prince and Other Tales is a collection of stories for children. It contains five stories, "The Happy Prince", "The Nightingale and the Rose", "The Selfish Giant", "The Devoted Friend", and "The Remarkable Rocket". It is most famous for its title story, "The Happy Prince". In the main story, a swallow meets the statue of the late "Happy Prince", which houses the soul of the original prince, who in reality had never experienced true happiness. The statue inspires the swallow to selfless acts. Oscar Wilde (1854–1900) was an Irish writer and poet. After writing in different forms throughout the 1880s, he became one of London's most popular playwrights in the early 1890s. Today he is remembered for his epigrams, plays and the circumstances of his imprisonment, followed by his early death.

  • The Happy Prince: Illustrated Version

    Oscar Wilde, Karla Molina

Paperback (Independently published, July 22, 2020)
The Happy Prince is a beautiful story by Oscar Wilde that every boy or girl should read, a classic that hooks, attracts and encourages the love of reading. It is a fully illustrated and contextualized book that shows a perspective easy to understand and enjoy. This book provides teaching about the beauty of generosity, kindness, empathy and friendship but at the same time injecting the magic of imagination into young and adults. It tells the story of a prince who lives happily within the walls of his palace and who will only see the real world when he is turned into a precious golden statue on a high pedestal, from which he can see beyond the fragile happiness of his castle. From there, with the help of a swallow, he will divest himself of all wealth to distribute among the most unfortunate and disadvantaged. An imaginary world that leaves no reader indifferent. Boys and adults can be moved by this tender story, an adventure that, despite the passage of time, does not lose validity and charm.
