  • The Golden Dream

    R. M. BALLANTYNE (1825 - 1894)

    MP3 CD (IDB Productions, Sept. 3, 2017)
A man from Britain gets struck by Gold Fever Rush. He cannot wait to go to California to seek gold, and as he travels to a far-flung and strange place, he uncovers the real worth of treasure, compassion and the Almighty God.Robert Michael Ballantyne was a Scottish writer of children’s stories who wrote greater than 100 books. He was also a successful artist, and displayed a few of his water-colors at the Royal Scottish Academy.Robert went back to Scotland to explore that his father passed away. He printed his first book, Hudson's Bay: or, Life in the Wilds of North America, and for quite some time became an employee of the publishers Messrs Constable. He then relinquished his trade to concentrate on his writing career, and started the series of adventure tales for children with which his name is famously interconnected. He was also known for these works: The Young Fur-Traders (1856), The Coral Island (1857), The World of Ice(1859), Ungava: a Tale of Eskimo Land (1857), The Dog Crusoe (1860), The Lighthouse (1865), Fighting the Whales (1866), Deep Down (1868), The Pirate City (1874), Erling the Bold (1869), The Settler and the Savage (1877), and over 100 other books ensued in unvarying succession, his instruction being in each situation to inscribe to the maximum amount that can be reached or accomplished from personal understanding of the settings he outlined. The Coral Island is the very famous of Robert’s novels still read and commemorated at present, though just for one blunder he created in that book, in which he provided an unseemly thickness of coconut shells, he then tried to obtain immediate knowledge of his subject. For example, he spent his time residing with the lighthouse keepers at the Bell Rock before writing The Lighthouse, and while studying for Deep Down he spent time with the tin miners of Cornwall.
