From the Childhood of Famous Americans series for young readers. Tom enjoyed his family's independent life in the wilderness. He liked to swim and fish in the streams and to hunt in the woods. He liked to float imaginary boats on the streams and watch them wind their way through the woods. This type of free living during his childhood gave Tom a lasting spirit of independence. He came to feel that all people are born equal and that all have the right to be independent.
There are some child scribbles in the book. But it does not detract from the reading. It's a very charming book and the marks make the book more delightful.
