A zebra is more than a pretty striped horse. Highly social, these fast, sharp-hoofed animals live in small family groups. The stallion and mares keep a constant vigil for lions and wild dogs, ready to drive them off or speed away. They must also migrate to find new sources of water and food. They are perfectly adapted, but face the threat of increasing human presence in their environment. Travel to the grasslands of Africa in our latest addition to an informative and entertaining series. Dozens of color photographs reveal the life and behavior of the zebra, accompanied by a highly readable and scientifically accurate text. Additional information on conservation issues, other members of the horse family, and book and Internet resources will help budding zoologists to learn more.
