Mary Reddick Welsh was born in New York City and raised in Westchester, New York and California. She attended Colorado College in Colorado Springs and the Art Center College of Design in Los Angeles. She has also studied at the Art Students League in New York City and St. Thomas Aquinus College. She has been an art teacher and a librarian in Sullivan, Maine where she has lived with her husband, Joe, for the past thirty-five years. She has both illustrated and written for the Puckerbrush Review and has created commercial illustrations for many organizations. Sammy is her first book for children.
