Library Binding (Creative Co, July 30, 2005)
'It succeeds admirably in its goal of making the present country comprehensible through a narrative of its past, with asides on everything from bonsai to zazen, in a brisk, highly readable style...you could easily read it on the flight over if you skip the movie.' WASHINGTON POST Whether you are going to Japan on business, to study, to teach or simply on vacation, you know that you are going to a country which really does merit the title 'unique'. A TRAVELLER'S HISTORY OF JAPAN not only offers the reader a chronological outline of the nation's development but also provides an invaluable introduction to its language, literature and arts, from kabuki to karaoke. Political, social and industrial history and economics are also well covered; this clearly written history explains how a country embedded in the traditions of Shinto, Shoguns and Samurai achieved stupendous economic growth in the twentieth century only to lose its way at the turn of the millennium.

    Sheila Eames

eBook (Windvane Publications, Dec. 31, 2019)
A collection of seventeen stories following Teddy Beresord and his friends and all their exploits and adventures, large and small, successful and (sometimes) unsuccessful. Danny is always in the background to help, or praise, or suggest other things. Originally written to be read to the author's grand-daughter when she was five, and who was constantly wanting more Beresford stories. Each story can be read alone, but they are best read in order to build up the characters and their antics. Further books with more of the stories are planned for publication soon. The stories are meant to be read by an adult to a child or children, and are designed for the child to enjoy but also to make the child think and answer questions adding their own slant to each story. The photos set the scene for each story, but leave the rest to the child's imagaination. All the Beresford stories from this book and the following ones, have been read to children and checked by nursery school teachers, specialist nurses and educationalists. Everyone, children and adults alike, have approved and enjoyed them.
