Belonging. Friendship. They go together. Right? Jason belonged. Life was good, comfortable, predictable—an amazing best friend, lots of buddies, a cute girl or two that would smile at him, and a mostly happy family—Mom was Mom, Kate and Maddie were okay, and Dad was usually absent, which worked out just fine. He even had a dog who was always there for him. But change happens. And what a change. Jason is thrust into a new school, a new home, a new culture, actually a few new cultures—one with a language he can’t understand. An ancient grandpa, with a past he won’t shut up about—except for one mysterious secret he won’t share—pushes Jason into friendships he never thought possible. But those friendships only lead to more problems. Will he ever be happy again? Will he ever have friends again? Will he ever be comfortable in his own home again? With his own family?
