Pollyanna, Mamaw Holbrooks youngest grandchild, found a muddy, shabby, big-eyed, half-starved, stray kitten and took it home to nurse it back to good health. She convinced her mother to let her keep the kitten. Pollyanna named the kitten Pricilla, but she called her Prissy.Pollyanna took good care of Prissy. She fed and watered her every day. Sometimes she gave Prissy a bath. Pollyanna became Prissys playmate. They played chase on sunny days. Pollyanna and her mother decided to go to Branson, Missouri, for a vacation. They asked Mrs. Neighbarger, her neighbor, to feed Prissy while they were gone.On the third day, when Mrs. Neighbarger came to feed Prissy, she called, Prissy, where are you? Prissy was not there. She had run away from home.The entire neighborhood searched hard and long for Prissy. Prissy, where are you? they yelled.Could Prissy be found before Pollyanna got back home?
