Excerpt from The Dentist: A Popular Treatise on the Care of the Teeth When we consider the vastly greater value of health, is it not strangely inconsistent that it is not made as much a subject of study as mathematics or music? When we say that sometimes circumstances for the time being are beyond our control; and that there may be a special interposition of Providence in any given case; we have said all we are war ranted in saying, and perhaps more than we know of either proposition. Let it be clearly understood, then, that we start Out with the conviction that the evils to which the teeth are subject are as much within our control as any other human affairs.
