The Origin of Pain

On January 22, 2016, my life changed dramatically. What I considered most unimaginable happened, and it caused great turbulence. The feelings experienced can only be described as volcanic. They brought so much up to the surface that I hadn’t yet identified as something I was in contention with. I felt its burn scattering throughout me, as if my outward radiance for others shifted inward and scolded me. I have learned just how much pain is like this. It isn’t always in your face or piercing your skin. It doesn’t always break your bones or even your heart. Often pain is this subtle discomfort, this inner incongruence boiling within that inevitably erupts raising itself to reality. This book aims to describe this experience. It traces my road through past heartbreak, loss, divorce, and insecurity into the deeply routed origin of pain and my way through it. It weaves personal stories with hindsight analysis as I tackle the issues that universally impact humankind, such as; social norms, mental health, grievances, forgiveness, and cultural change.20% of all proceeds will be donated to my sister's memorial scholarship "Cayley Fox Memorial Award" at Saint Mary's University in Halifax, Nova Scotia.*Paperback versions available through the Amazon US bookstore.
